COVID-19 Announcement

March 12, 2020

As you are undoubtedly aware, there are increasing concerns about the spread of Coronavirus

(COVID-19), both here in the U.S. and abroad. Our medical and healthcare team, along with senior leaders is diligently monitoring daily updates put forth by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and state and local health departments, and promptly enacting their recommended guidelines.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) Guidance for Infection Control and Prevention of Coronavirus (COVID-19) issued additional guidelines and based on these, Bryn Mawr Terrace will be implementing the following:

For facilities that are in counties or counties adjacent to other counties where a COVID-19 case has occurred, visitation is restricted (except for certain situations).  As you may be aware, there are confirmed cases in Montgomery, Philadelphia and Delaware Counties.

  • Effective Wednesday, March 11, 2020, Bryn Mawr Terrace will be restricting visitation for all family members, friends, volunteers, and vendors such as entertainers, lecturers, etc., until further notice.
  • Certain situations in which visitors will be permitted include end-of-life situations. Visitors will need to complete a questionnaire when they enter the building to ensure they are safe to visit.
  • In lieu of visits, Bryn Mawr Terrace offers alternative means of communication for people who would otherwise visit, through virtual communications (phone, Facetime, Skype, etc.).

Please know that we are taking the following steps at Bryn Mawr Terrace:

  • Beginning today, we are adding steps to our employee screening protocol at Bryn Mawr Terrace. As employees enter the building, their temperatures will be taken before they report to their designated works areas. This added layer of precaution is to continue to protect the well-being and safety of our residents.
  • Employees are not permitted to come to work with any signs of a cold, cough, fever or respiratory infection.  If an employee does show up to work with any signs or symptoms of an illness, the employee will be immediately sent home and will not be able to return until a doctor’s note is presented, clearing the employee to return to work.
  • The Infection Control Nurse continues to in-service all employees on infection control, proper handwashing techniques, and proper coughing and sneezing techniques.  We will be encouraging social distancing with an elbow bump and smiles in lieu of handshakes, hugs, etc. for all residents and employees.
  • All vendors, contractors, visitors, consultants, etc. will be required to complete a questionaire recommended by the CDC and have a temperature check. Anyone answering yes to one of the four questions will not be allowed in. Anyone with a temp of 100* or above will not be allowed in the facility.
  • To access the Centers for Disease Control website, please go to https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-in-us.html.

In closing, we all need to work together to reduce the risk to our community.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
