SAGECare Platinum Certificated for LGBT+ Cultural Competency

Bryn Mawr Terrace, a premier skilled nursing home of choice has recently earned SAGECare Platinum Certification from SAGEUSA, for completing a comprehensive provider training program for LGBT+ older adults and their caregivers, and cultural competency training on subjects related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. SAGECare is a division of SAGE, the country’s oldest and longest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBT+ older adults and provides competency training on LGBTQ aging issues to service providers.  This training will enable our organization to expand, transform and elevate person-directed care.  The LGBT+ community needs providers who understand and acknowledge the personal preferences of the LGBT+ community to provide a welcoming home and person directed care for our growing LGBT+ elder community.

As part of our LGBT+ Initiative, we have created a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT+) Task Force with the goal of creating a welcoming place for LGBT+ individuals and their families to call home, to work at, and to receive services from.  Members of the LGBT+ community have historically experienced institutionalized discrimination. These experiences have negatively impacted the health and well-being of LGBT+ individuals and families. Our organization is committed to serving members of the LGBT+ community with sensitivity, awareness, compassion and respect.

Bryn Mawr Terrace is committed to providing exceptional person-centered care to all, including LGBT+ individuals and their families.  As a not-for-profit provider, the mission of Bryn Mawr Terrace is to serve the community by providing quality care and services and to use our resources in a cost effective and community responsive manner. We strive to accomplish this in an environment that is respectful or residents and staff.
